has glosseng: The Foxfire books are a series of anthologies of articles originally written for the Foxfire (magazine). The series has developed into an effort to document the lifestyle, culture, and skills of people in southern Appalachia. The content is written as a mixture of how-to information, first-person narratives, oral history, and folklore. The first book was published in 1972, and was titled The Foxfire Book. This was followed by an additional 11 books titled in sequence Foxfire 2 through Foxfire 12. Along with these books there are several additional specialty books that have been published under the Foxfire name. The magazine and books were named after foxfire, the bioluminescent fungi that grows in the surrounding forest.
