Velen kennen het als synoniem voor avondklok wat inhoudt dat de bevolking een bepaalde tijd niet op straat mag zijn. Tijdens de bezetting in Nederland (1940-1945) werd er een spertijd ingesteld die liep van 24 uur s nachts tot 4 uur in de ochtend. Deze spertijd lag niet vast. Op elk willekeurig moment konden de spertijden worden aangepast. Gedurende de oorlogsjaren werd vanaf 1 februari 1942 - als extra strafmaatregel - de spertijd in Amsterdam aangepast: nu moesten de mensen in Amsterdam binnen blijven vanaf 20 uur tot aan de volgende ochtend. Degenen die moesten werken gedurende de spertijd (zoals mensen van de Luchtbeschermingsdienst) hadden een extra vergunning van de Duitsers nodig. Zon vergunning werd een Ausweis genoemd die ook bij het Persoonsbewijs werd bewaard. |
